Weddings & Vow renewals
The great thing about a celebrant wedding is there's only one way, and that's your own!
This photo was taken on our wedding day in August 1995. We got married in church and celebrated at our local pub afterwards. The church service was lovely, but we didn't get to write our own vows, dedicate personal commitments to each other or customise the ceremony in any way. Our music choices were limited to what the organist could play and their repertoire wasn't vast. Having said that, 60 bikers singing 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' was a sight to behold and a memory which will stick with me for ever!
As your Wedding Celebrant, I will spend time getting to know you both and listening to your love story. I'll write a bespoke ceremony with your input to include music, readings and rituals. It could be traditional, it could include an element or blend of religious/spiritual content if that's what you'd like, or it could be completely bonkers! It can take place in your garden shed, at a music festival - or anywhere in between. I'm here to guide you on your choices but in the meantime here are some popular rituals you might like to research:
- Handfasting
- Sand ceremony
- Jumping the broom
- Warming the rings
- Tree planting
- Wine ceremony
**Important information**
A celebrant wedding ceremony is not legally binding in England and Wales (yet), the legal part of the marriage needs to be done separately, usually beforehand at a register office.
Most couples get the 'admin' done before their special day, opting for the minimum requirement known as a 2 + 2 which requires the couple and two witnesses. The cost varies from district to district but you can expect to pay a 'Giving Notice' fee of £42 each, a registry office ceremony fee which starts at around £58 and the cost of the certificate from £12.50. In total, the legal requirement will cost around £150 - £200.
